Mr Darcy is a 15 month old British Lab. He was bred to
use his nose - for duck hunting. Under the guidance of
Liz Norris, Pawsibilities Unleashed, I have taught Mr
Darcy to use his nose to hunt for something other than
ducks. He is a diabetic alert dog and is trained to 'alert'
me to high or low blood sugar levels.

Mr Darcy is trained to a 'bringsel alert', as used by
search and rescue teams. When he detects the target
odor of high blood sugar levels, , he places this bringsel
in his mouth and sits. If he detects the low scent, he
places the bringsel in his mouth, sits and paws my leg.

Mr Darcy is capable of detecting changes in my BG
BEFORE my meter detects the change. Many times
has alerted when my meter has a 'normal' reading, but
within minutes I could observe my numbers changing.

Mr Darcy stays with me 24/7. He goes everywhere I go.
He alerts in public and at home - in the middle of the
day and in the middle of the night.

With his help, I am able to keep my range tighter, which
has many health benefits
