Insulin
What Is Insulin?
Insulin is a hormone that is
normally produced in my
pancreas. Without it, my body
cannot use sugar as it should.
Since my pancreas no longer
secretes insulin, I have to take
insulin from a bottle, like the
one in this picture. I cannot
swallow it like a pill because it
would be destroyed by the acid
the stomach; I cannot drink it
like liquid medicine for the same
reason. It gets into my body by
shots or by a pump.
