In the Bible, the apostle Paul had some difficulties that bothered him. He prayed for God to fix it - He wanted
God to take his problems go away. But instead, God told him,"My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in weakness." Paul learned that he should rejoice in his weakness because it gave more
opportunity for the power and glory of God to be made known. "Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with
weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2
Corinthians 12:9-10 (ESV)

Those of us who have diabetes have to learn to accept our disease. I desire for God's glory to be made known
through my life, even through diabetes. If I had to get diabetes, I rejoice that I live in the United States in 2007.
Only a hundred years ago, insulin treatment was non-existant. A standard treatment was starvation. Only 50
years ago, there was no way for people to check their own blood sugars and then to be able to treat them
precisely. Only 25 years ago, there were virtually no diabetic pumps. Only 5 years ago, there were scarcely any
dogs being trained to aid diabetic patients. And, even today, in most countries of the world, these things are
not available to children with diabetes. How grateful I am to be in this time and in this place. Many people who
have diabetes do not have access to good doctors and medical equipment. Many children do not have
parents and siblings to surround them with love and support and care and help. How grateful I am to be in this
time and place.
A Page Of Thanksgiving
There are so many people trying to help us right now. My family is so thankful for all of the
people that God has put in our lives to help us in this terrible situation!
